The planet Akiton is home to many species who are similar enough to interbreed but different enough to cause it to be unpredictable. Once a sufficient number of different species have contributed DNA to offspring then the various ancestors can become difficult to identify. Ivory tusks, insect chitin, matted fur, scaly flesh, and more sometimes combine to form a roughly humanoid shape.
Mongrelmen from Akiton enter university with two monstrous humanoid hit dice. They have 12 points to spend on ability scores. At enrolment they are proficient with all simple weapons but with no armour or shields.
The greatest danger on Akiton comes from the twelve-foot tall four-armed shobhads, with their firearms and war clans. The most common favoured enemy on Akiton is therefore monstrous humanoid.

Sound Mimicry (voices): An Akitonian mongrelman perfectly imitates certain sounds or even specific voices. The mongrelman makes a Bluff check opposed by the listener’s Sense Motive check to recognize the mimicry, although if the listener isn’t familiar with the person or type of creatures mimicked, it takes a –8 penalty on its Sense Motive check. Akitonian mongrelmen have a +8 racial bonus on their Bluff checks to mimic sounds (including accents and speech patterns) it has listened to for at least 10 minutes. The mongrelman cannot duplicate the effects of magical abilities (such as bardic performance or a harpy’s captivating song), though it may be able to mimic the sound of those abilities. This ability does not allow a mongrelman to speak or understand languages it doesn’t know.
